Keeping local tracking files honest
A monthly briefing is only as comparable as the folder it came from. Renaming columns mid-year is a quiet way to break the record.
Host Managerhub’s local tracking utility is a place to keep files the client already owns. It does not fetch live telemetry, does not hold funds, and does not talk to exchanges. Compatibility mentions exist so operators can line up exports they already produce; they are not a partnership claim.
Honest files share three traits: original timestamps, a written note of any filter applied before export, and a stable set of column names. If March calls a field “src” and April calls it “source_host,” the briefing spends a paragraph on translation instead of on the month.
We ask recurring-briefing clients to drop a one-line changelog with each month: what collector was added, what was retired, what search changed. Without that line, a drop in row count looks like calmer traffic when it was only a narrower search.
Private keys, seed phrases, and password dumps do not belong in a tracking folder. If they appear, we stop the read and ask for a redacted packet. Record-keeping is not custody.
